A passerby called in Friday morning with the initial report that a house was on fire at 1821 Copper Springs Road. It was engulfed when firefighters from the Springville Volunteer Fire Department arrived at about 10 a.m. The fire also destroyed a tractor parked behind the house and spread on into the adjacent woods where the Springville firefighters were assisted by a brush truck and men from the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department. The owner of the home, Charlie Norwood, said nothing was amiss when he left for work that morning.
