Public meetings

The following five governmental meetings are scheduled during the coming week. All are open to the public.

 

MONDAY

The Northwest Henry County Utility District board will meet at 6 p.m. at the Whitlock fire station.

 

TUESDAY

The Puryear Mayor and Board of Aldermen will meet at 4:30 p.m. at Puryear City Hall.

The Henry County Budget Committee will meet at 5 p.m. in the conference room at the courthouse.

The Henry County Highway Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Highway Department, 575 Cedar St. in Paris.

The Cottage Grove Legislative Council will meet at 6 p.m. at the Cottage Grove School building.

 

Homemaker’s Holiday planned

The Henry County chapters of the Family and Community Education Club will be having their annual Homemaker’s Holiday from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Enoch building at the Henry County Fairgrounds.

The organization will be selling homemade items such as cakes, pies, casseroles, chicken and dumplings, soups, fried pies, homemade crafts, soaps and many other items both days. 

Homemade soups and chili, pimento cheese or chicken salad sandwich, dessert and a drink will be sold for only $5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. 

All proceeds will support organizations in Henry County, according to Michele Atkins, Henry County Extension director. 

 

Road to be closed

Blood River Church Road northwest of Buchanan will be closed Tuesday for culvert replacement.

The Henry County Highway Department announced the closure will be two-tenths of a mile east of Mount Pleasant Freeland Road.

The road is expected to be open for afternoon traffic.

 

Veterans Day dinner set

American Legion Post 228 at Big Sandy will have a Veterans Day dinner at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The post is at 70 Front St. in Big Sandy.

 

Incorrect identification

In Thursday’s edition of The Post-Intelligencer, a story listed a person arrested for aggravated child abuse as Tiffany Davis, 36, of 2110 Hwy. 140 east of Puryear.

The person arrested is actually named Tiffany James.
