Wayne Young

Professional dirt track racer Wayne C. Young, 70, of Hollow Rock died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Benchmark Healthcare in Puryear.

A special friend and companion, Karen Ward, lives in Puryear.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Robby Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in the Crossland community.

Chosen as pallbearers are Beck Thompson, Keith Paschall, James Greer, Mancel Fincher, Austin Skinner and Jeff McNeil.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday.

Born Aug. 30, 1944, in Somerville, N.J., he was a son of the late Charles and Ellen Marie Fehnall Young.

Young was a member of Assembly of God Church in Washington, N.J., and also had been a Baptist. He was an avid country dancer.

He also leaves a sister: Sharon Chang of Faribault, Minn.; a brother: Jim Young of Easton, Pa.; and seven other special friends: Melissa, Brianna and Austin Skinner and Russ, Destiny, Brent and Nakisha Thompson.
