Lady Irish top Lady Eagles
Regular season basketball action came to a close for the Lakewood School Lady Eagles Monday night with a 35-24 home loss to Houston County.
Lakewood’s girls are now 6-8 on the season.
Houston County got out to a 9-3 first quarter lead and pushed their halftime advantage to 19-7. The Lady Irish posted an 11-9 scoring edge in the third quarter for a 30-16 lead.
Lakewood managed an 8-5 scoring edge in the fourth frame, but Houston County cruised in for the 35-24 victory.
Kristin Jungers topped Lakewood in scoring with eight points, while Annabelle Singleton hit for six points. Addi Hunt scored five points with Charly Hutson adding three and Emma Mitchell chipped in two points.
Houston County’s Allie Black led the Lady Irish in scoring with 14 points.
Inman games move to January
Problems with Union City’s schedule led to the postponement of basketball games against Inman Middle School in Paris on Monday.
The games were first rescheduled for next week but now have been pushed back to 6 p.m. Jan. 16 at Inman.
