Learn the unique method of piecing a string quilt, which includes making a quilt block from small pieces of fabric that were hand-sewn on to paper, piecing quilt tops and perfecting the hand quilting stitch. Learn the ancient craft of spinning, taught by traditional fiber artist and Homeplace historical interpreter Cindy Earls. Learn techniques using a drop spindle and then how to prepare wool and other fibers for spinning. Cost is $25. Registration and full deposit are required. The Golden Pond Planetarium and Observatory is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day and the Elk and Bison Prairie is open every day, with best viewing times two hours after morning twilight and two hours before sunset.
