Three breeds competed at Monday’s dairy cattle show at the Henry County Fair. The event included concurrent open and youth dairy cattle shows.

The three breeds shown during the event were Jersey, Guernsey and Holstein. Judging the show was Louie Cozzitorto. 

He is a self-employed cattle fitter/marketer across the United States and Canada.  He was with the American Jersey Cattle Association for seven years as an appraiser and assistant manager of Jersey Marketing Service. He has judged shows throughout the United States and in Australia.

 

JERSEY

Sunbow won grand champion and reserve champion in the senior open show.

Wet Meadows had grand champion and Tri-Springs had reserve champion in the junior open show.

Abby Smith had grand and reserve champion in the youth show.

 

GUERNSEY

Aqua Valley Farm won the Guernsey junior and senior open shows, having grand champion and reserve champion in both shows.

HOLSTEIN

There was only one entry in the whole Holstein show.           Wet Meadows Farm showed the heifer calf which took home all the honors for the breed.

SHOWMANSHIP

Cody Buckley won the award for senior showman. Cori Hopkins was junior high showman winner. 

There was a tie in Pee Wee showmanship between Will McDaniels, Karsin Leach and Trinity Gardner. Ashley Bell won the Oldtimers division.
