Larry and Alicia Wimberley of Buchanan are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this month. They were married Sept. 12, 1969, at her childhood home in Buchanan, with Ewing Stubblefield officiating.

The bride is the former Alicia Hart. She is the daughter of the late George “Doll” and Omrie Hart, who lived in Buchanan. The groom is the son of the late Kenneth and Winifred Wimberley, who also lived in Buchanan.

They have two children, Jami (Vince) Davidson of Clarksville and Jason Wimberley of Paris. They have two grandchildren, Jaden and Brison Wimberley, both of Paris.

Larry Wimberley began working at Emerson Electric in 1966. He also worked at Midland-Ross and Iron Auto for a short time before going to work at the Paris Board of Public Utilities in 1969. He retired from the BPU in 2009.

Alicia Wimberley began working at Emerson in 1969. After staying home with her children for several years, she started back to work at First Trust Bank in 1979. She worked there for 15 years, then worked for 10 years at Union Planters Bank. In 2005, she went to work for Commercial Bank and is still there part-time.

A family celebration of the couple’s anniversary, hosted by their children, is scheduled for Saturday in Clarksville.
