One new massive wedding and special event venue is now open in Henry County with a second to open soon.

Sandy Creek, a “nature-inspired event centre,” is at 729 Poplar Grove Road in Springville. It opened in May and has already hosted several weddings.

It is owned by David and Beth Morgan and Marshall and Margaret Morgan and is located on 400 acres.

It features a huge barn and a large island that can be the site of the special event, and up to 18 people can stay in the lodge, while there are also cabins, cottages and a bungalow.

For information, contact venue manager Shannon Connor at 731-333-9779.

Located at 630 Alman Cemetery Road, Westfalia Farms soon will be available for other special events such as family reunions, celebrations, showers and corporate meetings or retreats.

Owned by Sebastian Knoeppel and managed by Mike Patterson, weekend rentals include many options.

The highlight is a gambrel-style barn that seats up to 150 with tables and chairs with space for a dance floor and buffet.

Fully heated and cooled, the farmhouse has a bridal suite as well as a groom’s room on a separate floor. There are four bedrooms sleeping eight to 10 adults for an overnight stay as well as a large deck for rehearsal dinners.

A courtyard will also be available for intimate receptions.

Westfalia is hosting a “Farm Day” from 2-8 p.m. Saturday. The barn will be open and there’ll be free activities for kids.
