Randy and Rita Gean of Buchanan will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this month.
The Geans were married Sept. 11, 1969, at Cottage Grove Church of Christ in Cottage Grove. The late B.B. James of Paris officiated.
The bride’s maid of honor was Brenda Jenkins of Paris. The groom’s best man was the late Terry Lackey of McKenzie.
The bride is the former Rita Watkins. She is the daughter of the late Mary and Hallie Flanagan, who lived in Paris, and of Henrietta Watkins of Puryear and the late Mack Watkins.
The groom is the son of the late Taylor and Dorothy Gean, who lived in Paris.
The couple has two children, Jinny (Mark) Pritchett of Paris and Jeff Gean of Buchanan.
They have four grandchildren: Devin and Aubrie Pritchett, both of Paris, and Jessica and Natalie Gean, both of Columbia.
The couple calls a granddaughter, the late Catie Gean Pritchett, their guardian angel.
A reception is planned from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Paris Civic Center, 650 Volunteer Drive in Paris. It will be hosted by the couple’s two children and their families. The family has requested no gifts for the occasion.
The Geans plan to take a cruise later to commemorate their golden anniversary.
