Henry County High School student April Hovis works on a biodiesel production project. Chemistry teacher John Anderson said the project involves students volunteering their time to collect kitchen grease, run a pH test, calculate the appropriate amount of catalyst and alcohol, and then mix it together. The process converts a waste product into clean-burning diesel fuel. The conversion happens in a 40-gallon processor, purchased as part of a grant a few years ago. Other students involved were Brandon Crosser, Shan Patel, Alex Boyd, Jonathon Beasley, Blake Castle, Bryant French, Evan Parkhill, Dakota Perry and Jesse Wells.
