Paris-Henry County Community Band

Mike Holden directs the Paris-Henry County Community Band in a rehearsal for its spring concert, set for 3 p.m. Sunday at the Krider Performing Arts Center. The concert is free to the public and will also feature Murray State Director of Guitar Studies Brent Webster, the Paris Brass and a trumpet trio.

The Paris-Henry County Chamber Music Society will present its Community Band in a spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Krider Performing Arts Center.

The special guest artist will be Brent Webster, a lecturer and director of guitar studies at Murray State University.

While he won’t be playing with the Community Band, he will be playing “Jongo” by Paulo Bellinoti, two movements from “Koyubaba” by Carlo Domeniconi plus other numbers.

The Community Band is composed of musicians from teens through adult and is a nonprofit organization.

The band will present seven numbers Sunday including “The Forge of Vulcan” by Michael Sweeney, “Evil Ways” by Sonny Henry, arranged by Paul Lavender, “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood, arranged by Johnnie Vinson and four other numbers.

The Paris Brass will play “Closer Walk” and “The American Hymn.”

The Community Band will also be playing with Sammy Goldstein during his concert June 8, also at KPAC.
