The Ned in Jackson opens its new season at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 with Maureen McGovern.

According to a press release from The Ned (Ned R. McWherter West Tennessee Cultural Arts Center), “A Long and Winding Road” will be an entertaining and introspective look at the songs that inspired McGovern before her Academy Award-winning, No. 1 hit song “The Morning After.”

It will be an evening of intimate musical portraits honoring classic 1960s and 1970s singer-songwriters who helped shape a generation.

McGovern is a two-time Grammy nominee, and a Broadway and recording artist.

Tickets are $28-$30 and are available at The Ned, 314 E. Main St., Jackson, or online at or by calling 731-425-8397.

The Ned also announced four other programs on the 2019-20 schedule.

On Oct. 24, The Cleverlys will be on stage, then The Diamonds’ “Silver Bells and Diamonds” is set for Dec. 6.

Royal Wade Kimes’ “Solo Cowboy Country Concert,” kicks off the 2020 portion of the season on Feb. 21.
