An Illinois man died Thursday night as a result of an apparent accident while driving a four-wheeler in the Buchanan area.

Matthew Gadawski, 33, of Orland Park, Ill., was found by Henry County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Sanders on Cherry Island Road, laying on the ground with the four-wheeler sitting in a flower bed.

According to an incident report by Sanders, a witness stated that Gadawski took the four-wheeler for a ride and crashed it. The body had been left unattended for approximately 30 minutes prior to Sanders’ arrival.

Sanders stated Gadawski had no pulse or respiration and had multiple visible contusions. Henry County Emergency Medical Services transported the body to Henry County Medical Center.

Sanders and Henry County Sheriff’s Investigator Adam Jenkins also found skid marks and signs of a rollover at the scene of the crash.

The incident was being investigated by the Henry County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Division, as of Friday morning.

WEEKEND ARRESTS

• A Paris man was arrested Saturday afternoon for alleged sexual abuse.

En Lin, 40, 75 Jenelle Drive, was charged with sexual battery by an authority figure.

Paris Police Lt. Jeramye Whitaker took Lin into custody at 2:30 p.m. at Paris City Hall, according to an arrest report. He was given a bond set at $25,000. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in General Sessions Court.

• A Paris man was arrested early Thursday for assault and possessing a gun while inebriated.

Jacob A. Ervin, 42, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a handgun while under the influence and public intoxication. An arrest report indicated that PPD Lt. Michael Long arrested Ervin about 12:15 a.m. at a restaurant on East Wood Street.

Ervin is set to appear Tuesday in General Sessions Court. His bond was set at $5,000.
