Two people were arrested Saturday afternoon by Paris police for crimes allegedly committed in two states.
Charles T. Dennis III, 34, of Dyersburg and Ariyah M. Jones, 19, of Puryear were both charged with theft of property, unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon and fugitive from justice, a charge given to someone who fled from a different state to avoid arrest for a crime there.
Arrest reports indicated PPD Sgt. Amber Roaten arrested Dennis and Jones about 12:45 p.m. at Eiffel Tower Park.
The bonds for Dennis and Jones were set at $30,000 and $20,000, respectively.
Both are scheduled to appear today in Henry County General Sessions Court.
In other law enforcement news, Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey appeared before the Henry County Commission Monday, seeking an update of the existing uniform allowance policy for his department.
The commission approved the request, meaning new deputies in their first year of employment will be allotted up to $1,200 a year for a full issue of clothes at six-month intervals (at $600 for each six-month period).
There are also provisions for deputies after their first year, correctional officers, new dispatchers and clerical staff.
The sheriff himself will be allowed a clothing allowance of $600 a year.
