Henry County Medical Center’s Board of Trustees voted to move ahead Thursday with an much-needed overhaul of X-ray Room One.
The board agreed to go ahead with agreement with Shimadzu Scientific Instruments to lease the necessary equipment to renovate hospital’s X-ray room. The motion also approved the lease of previously-approved equipment for its cardiac catheritization lab.
“Since the beginning of May, the steps that we’ve gone through is finding out that it’s not repairable — that the equpment is sixteen years old and obsolete, and it’s not worth repairing,” HCMC CEO Lisa Casteel said of the X-ray room.
Casteel said the X-ray equipment would cost in excess of $550,000 over a five-year period, with the equipment available for purchase at a fair market value at the end of that time.
In other business, the board:
• Re-elected Scott Whitby to serve as another term as board chairman and Troy Buttrey to serve an additional term as vice chairman.
Both were elected by acclimation.
• Recognized $397,937 in bad debt write-offs.
• Approved $27,068 in capital equipment requests.
