Both local school systems have canceled Friday classes as a snowstorm came through the area.

The Paris Special School District and the Henry County School System announced Thursday morning that Friday classes would be canceled. Both systems had previously canceled classes Thursday night.

Snowy weather conditions have also caused numerous closings related to the City of Paris government on Thursday.

They include:

•  Paris city hall closed at 11 a.m. Thursday.

•  Paris Civic Center closed at 11 a.m. Thursday.

•  The Paris-Henry County Animal Shelter is closed Thursday.

•  The Paris-Henry County Landfill closed at 11 a.m. Thursday.

•  A meeting of the Paris Commission that had been scheduled for Thursday has been called off and rescheduled for 5 p.m. Jan. 13.

•  Paris Municipal City Court is canceled for Thursday and will be rescheduled at a later date. Call 731-641-1413 to reschedule.

•  Paris Public Works was working to finish sanitation routes Thursday. If they do not make it to your house, text Public Works at 333-9584 to be picked up on another date (weather permitting).

The state also announced its offices would be closed Thursday.

State employees will use work-from-home capabilities where possible. State services offered online will remain available.

All citizens are urged to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel where possible on Thursday, according to a press release from Gov. Bill Lee's office.
