A local attorney was killed in a pedestrian accident after he was hit by a vehicle Saturday night on Highway 79 near Paris.
William R. “Bill” Neese, 75, of Paris was killed Saturday in front of Fourman’s at 3615 Hwy. 79 northeast of Paris.
According to the report released Sunday by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the accident happened about 9:05 p.m., and involved a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by a man from Scotts Hill.
As the truck was heading south towards Paris on Highway 79, Neese stepped into the highway and was fatally injured after being hit by the truck.
Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey confirmed Sunday afternoon the Sheriff’s Department responded to the call. Rogers, who was still at the scene when deputies arrived, was not charged. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The Paris Fire Department also responded to the scene.
At the time of his death, Neese was a partner in the Neese & Neese Law Firm with his daughter, Ellen Neese Adams.
He was skeet coach of the Henry County No Fly Zone scholastic shooting team.
He spent eight years as county attorney for neighboring Weakley County,
Funeral arrangements had not been announced at presstime.
