The ice and snowstorm from Monday has caused numerous incidents that kept local agencies in Paris and Henry County busy with helping people.
The Paris Police Department had reported on seven traffic accidents by Tuesday afternoon, and assisted another nine people whose vehicles slid off the road and/or got stuck in a ditch.
Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey counted 18 traffic accidents total that the department had provided aid for since the bad weather came in.
Frey said that number does not include vehicles that were stuck in ice or snow, as there have been too many of those to keep up with.
Meagan Hart, spokesman for the Paris Utility Authority, said there have been a few scattered power outages since the winter storm came through but workers have been able to stay on top of any dilemmas.
“Thankfully, because of the type of snow we got, there wasn’t much ice falling and damaging power lines,” said Hart.
The PUA has also had to deal with several water mains that broke because of the cold temperatures, but Hart said those have all been fixed.
