While Whitaker was on his way to the scene, a 911 dispatcher told him that medical services were also en route because of reported child abuse.
When Whitaker arrived, he spoke with Patton, who said that Deshar Patton got angry with her in a relationship dispute and became physical with her.
She said Deshar Patton had punched her in the chest multiple times and then began choking her.
She told Whitaker that he then picked up a baby in the home and started squeezing and shaking the baby, saying he was going to kill it.
Chaslyn Patton said she took the baby from Deshar Patton and called 911.
While Whitaker was speaking with Chaslyn Patton, Deshar Patton called her and told her not to press charges on him.
After the phone call, she refused to give any more details or to make a written statement.
Whitaker said he called Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Griffey, who told him he could charge Chaslyn Patton with aggravated child abuse and neglect.
Whitaker made a report with the Department of Children’s Services and went back to arrest Patton.

She is scheduled to appear today in Henry County General Sessions Court. Her bond was set at $75,000.
