A Paris woman was killed Thursday morning near Paris, according to information from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
According to a preliminary report released Friday afternoon by THP Lt. Brad Wilbanks, the accident happened Thursday. Social media reports indicated the accident happened about 5 a.m.
The woman was Cynthia Diane Davis Hargrove, 45, of Paris, according to the Rev. Leon White of the Church in Paris, where Hargrove attended.
The wreck happened when Hargrove’s 2016 Nissan Versa was heading northeast on Fairgrounds Road.
She began negotiating a curve to the left and traveled off the right edge of the road.
Hargrove then apparently over-corrected to the left, causing the car to leave the left side of the road and hit a tree head-on.
The Nissan came to rest against the tree, facing north, then became engulfed in flames.
Hargrove was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
White is delivering the eulogy at a memorial celebration of life for Hargrove at 5 p.m. Thursday at McEvoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
