A Big Sandy man was killed Monday afternoon when he was involved in an industrial accident at a Paris manufacturing plant.
Bobby Smith, 46, was an employee of PML, 75 County Home Road. He was working Monday afternoon and became entangled in a piece of industrial equipment shortly before 2 p.m.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. The Henry County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene along with the Paris Fire Department, Henry County Rescue Squad and Henry County Medical Center Emergency Medical Services workers.
Sheriff’s Capt. Adam Jenkins emphasized there was no criminal investigation being conducted, just a cause of death investigation. Smith’s body will be sent for an autopsy.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Mister Smith,” said Sheriff Monte Belew.
A PML spokesman said the company had no comment on the incident while it is under investigation by the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
