A Paris man was arrested for arson Friday afternoon by Henry County Sheriff’s Sgt. Blake Jenkins.

Michael K. Wofford, 57, 140 Jack Younger Lane, was charged with arson, theft of property over $2,500 and two counts of violation of probation.

Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Vandiver of the Criminal Investigation Division said Sunday afternoon that this incident is separate from a series of fires that have been ongoing since Jan. 7. Wofford had allegedly burned a truck.

Jenkins nabbed Wofford at 5:36 p.m. Friday at Wofford’s home.

Wofford was given a bond of $25,000. He is scheduled to appear April 6 in Henry County General Sessions Court.

In unrelated incidents:

• A Murray man was arrested Thursday night in Paris for illegal possession of a weapon.

Rickey L. Young, 42, was found with a loaded Taurus .380-pistol in his vehicle, according to an incident report by Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Carroll.

Carroll’s report indicates that Young is a convicted felon in Kentucky and he was charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Carroll took Young into custody at 6:53 p.m. on North Market Street.

Young is scheduled to appear April 6 in General Sessions Court. His bond was set at $10,000.

• A Paris man was arrested on assault charges Thursday night at his home.

Darian Denzel Bomar, 35, 115 Crestview Circle, was charged with aggravated assault and domestic assault. He was taken into custody at 8:57 p.m. by Paris Police Patrolman Chad Andrews.

A bond for Bomar was not included on his arrest report. He is scheduled to appear on April 6 in General Sessions Court.

• A Cottage Grove man has been charged with aggravated assault after being arrested by Sheriff’s Deputy Frankie Scott on Thursday afternoon.

Bobby L. Casey, 38, 1920 Lampkins Road off Highway 69 northwest of Paris, was seized at 2:38 p.m. at an automotive shop on East Wood Street, according to an arrest report.

Casey is set to appear April 6 in General Sessions Court. His bond was set at $10,000.

• A Paris man was arrested by PPD Patrolman Johnathan Baxter Friday morning and charged with aggravated assault.

Terrell D. Cowan, 45, 634 Bolin St., also faces charges of domestic assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.

An arrest report indicates Cowan was apprehended at 9:37 a.m. on Cooper Street in Paris.

Cowan is set to appear April 6 in General Sessions Court. His bond was not provided on the arrest report.
