An investigation into more than a dozen destroyed mailboxes resulted in DUI charges for a Paris man.
Jacinto Solis, 32, 135 Hidden Acres Road near Paris was arrested at his home by Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy Dalton Watson.
He was charged with driving under the influence, failure to exercise due care, leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a revoked license.
According to the report by Watson, he was called to Hidden Acres Road at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a report of damaged mailboxes.
On arrival, he found a total of 22 damaged mailboxes and a plastic inner fender from a vehicle.
While patroling the area looking for damaged vehicles, he saw two people standing next to a blue Dodge Challenger automobile, later identified as belonging to Solis, with front end damage next to his home.
Solis was arrested after performing poorly on several field sobriety tests. A check with dispatchers showed Solis’ license had been revoked for DUI in 2012.
Damage to the mailboxes was estimated at $1,000.
