Getting things ready

The January distribution event of government commodities is coming up Tuesday through the Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council.

The commodities will be distributed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day at the Central Community Service Center, 55 Jones Bend Road Extended in Paris, according to Darlene Russell, the county manager here for the council.

Recipients will need to have a red card to be able to pick up their food.

If they still need to sign up, they may call the office at 642-3132 from 8 a.m. to noon today. Today is the last day for signups.

Government commodities are given away on a first-come, first-served basis.
