A Puryear man was arrested for murder Friday night after a joint investigation by the Henry County Sheriff's Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
James Edward Caddell, 74, 355 Duncan Lane, was charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
He was arrested about 5:15 p.m. Friday at his home by Sheriff’s investigator Gary Vandiver and TBI Agent Joe Hudgins.
According to information released Saturday morning by the TBI, Sheriff's officers found the body of Stella Duncan Caddell, 68, Friday afternoon at her home on Duncan Lane.
TBI agents were brought in to assist in the investigation at the request of Matt Stowe, attorney general for the 24th Judicial District.
During the investigation, the officers and agents found information that identified James Caddell as the person responsible for his wife's death.
Caddell's bond was set at $1 million. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Henry County General Sessions Court.
