The Henry County Highway Commission accepted a bid from a Paris paving company for a project involving three county roads during its Monday meeting.

The road board opened bids on the state-aid paving project that will cover 9.5 miles worth of work, according to Christy Alexander of the Highway Department.

That work will include 4.4 miles on Old Paris-Murray Road, 3.3 miles on Manleyville Road and 1.7 miles on Crossland Road.

Two bids were submitted. Delta Contracting Co. of Paris bid $64.91 a ton, while Murray Paving Co. of Murray bid $67.93.

The board accepted the Delta bid, Alexander said. Work is expected to begin within the next two weeks.

The state-aid project involves some money from the state Department of Transportation that is allotted to the county each year.

The funds for this project are actually ones that carried over from the last fiscal year.
