A violent storm caused minor injuries and property damage Wednesday night in the Buchanan area.
According to a statement issued at 8:15 p.m. by Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey, the storm downed power lines and trees. Frey’s statement reads as follows:
Severe storms did touch down in Henry County on Wednesday evening. The area affected seems to be the area of Cowpath Road, Buchanan Road, Log Cabin Road and Sulphur Well Academy. We do have several trees and power lines down in those areas. If you are not an emergency responder please avoid those areas. The storm has damaged several buildings and homes as well. Only very minor injuries have been reported at this time. Updates will follow as they become available.
As of Wednesday night, both Paris Special School District and Henry County schools planned to open as normal on Thursday.
