A $50,000 state grant is going to help Henry County establish a hospitality training program to help people learn to be good restaurant and hotel workers.
The ThreeStar grant from the state Department of Economic and Community Development is part of $2.4 million in grants being provided to 59 communities around the state.
The local grant will fund the new training program, which will be aimed at helping improve the skills of the workforce in Henry County when it comes to any type of job in which employees deal with the public.
Tara Wilson, administrative assistant for the Paris-Henry County Industrial Committee, said no dates have been set for the training program yet. The training will likely be available for all ages.
There will be a tie-in with Henry County High School’s culinary program, and part of the grant money will go toward equipment for the school, Wilson said.
Part of the grant money will also go toward paying for a hospitality trainer who will be coming from a training company in Murfreesboro, she said.
