Mockabee, Barrow deliver speeches

The annual 4-H Public Speaking Contest was conducted Monday night at Inman Middle School, with 4-H Club students from grades 4-8 from across the county participating.

The following students were chosen as winners during the competition:

• 4th grade — Amelia Watkins, Paris Elementary School, first place; Miles Latta, PES, alternate; Will Porter, Laura Knoeppel, Andrew Allison and Catherine Palmer, all of PES, finalists.

• 5th grade — Ellie Hamlin, Lakewood School, first place; Reed Jackson, PES, alternate; Allie Welp, Harrelson School, Ava Hastings, Lakewood, and Irelynn Beecham and Brooks Parker, both of PES, finalists.

• 6th grade — Dallas Bomar, Harrelson, first place; Allie Paschall, Lakewood, alternate.

• 7th grade — Anne Claire Collins, Inman, first place; Jack Todd, Lakewood, alternate.

• 8th grade — Abby Hudgins, Harrelson, first place.
