A Paris man died Tuesday after his vehicle veered into a gully and hit a tree off of East Wood Street.
According to a traffic crash report from the Paris Police Department, Jeffrey D. Thompson, 58, of Paris was pronounced dead soon after the accident occurred.
A passenger, Robbie Thompson, 67, of Puryear, who is Jeff Thompson’s aunt, was thought to have serious injuries at the time of the wreck.
Robbie Thompson was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville and was reported to be stable on Wednesday.
Both occupants of the vehicle were trapped after the wreck occurred, and had to be removed at the scene.
Although Robbie Thompson is listed as having worn a seatbelt, Jeffrey Thompson was not.
His vehicle, a white 1997 Chevrolet C15, was traveling eastbound on East Wood Street.
The vehicle veered off the road and into some woods just west of Highland Street, across from the Washington Courts basketball courts.
According to Paris Patrolman Dereck Greenhill’s report, Robbie Thompson said Jeffrey Thompson appeared to have blacked out and fell into her lap, causing the truck to veer off the road.
