Lifeline Blood Services plans to present a new car to Dyersburg resident Jennifer Ozment at 2 p.m. Saturday at Joe Mahan Ford in Paris.
According to a press release from Lifeline, Ozment was a blood donor this summer during the Joe Mahan Ford blood donor promotion.
Lifeline asked Joe Mahan Ford if it would donate a vehicle to help encourage blood donors during the summer months, when there are fewer donors.
The Mahan team unanimously supported the idea, and owner Jeff Mahan agreed to donate a 2019 Ford Fiesta.
All Lifeline blood donors who gave blood from June 1 through August 31 were eligible to register to win the car.
Lifeline said summer blood shortages can be a major threat during those months. Collecting enough blood to meet patient needs can be a concern for all blood centers and hospitals every year.
“We cannot thank Joe Mahan Ford enough for helping encourage people to give blood during the summer months,” said Tonya Johnson, director of community services for Lifeline. “Because of their generosity, the message that lives depend on volunteer blood donations was heard and people responded.”
