Yet another fire was reported Monday morning in Henry County, prompting a reward of $5,000 to be offered for information leading to a possible arsonist’s arrest.
The Springville Volunteer Fire Department responded about 6 a.m. to a fire in a wooded area near Maberry Road off Highway 69A east of Paris.
An incident report by Henry County Sheriff’s Sgt. Clyde Sulcer indicates the fire was about 10 yards off the road and stretched about 30 feet across.
The cause of the fire is unknown and it is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, along with about a dozen other fires that have been reported in the county since Thursday. The series of fires is being investigated as potential arson.
Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Vandiver of the CID said the department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are working some leads in the case and are asking people to report any information or suspicious activity by calling the Tennessee Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017.
A reward of $5,000 is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to the arsonist’s arrest.
The sheriff’s department also can be reached at 642-1672.
