The Henry County Courthouse Committee got a first-hand look at the progress on the new office for the county Election Commission during its Tuesday meeting.
Committee members went to the new site inside the Weston Hall building on the Grove School campus.
DeLaina Green, county administrator of elections, expects the new office to be fully operational by Wednesday of next week.
Henry County Mayor Brent Greer said some minor work still is planned, such as another bathroom for the office.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the committee heard about the upcoming American Disabilities Act transition assessment, which Greer said has to be completed by the end of the first quarter at the end of March.
Road Supervisor Richie Chilcutt and Jeff Charles, the county maintenance supervisor, assist in getting the assessment ready.
Greer also mentioned that he plans to ask the county Budget Committee soon to add a second person to the county maintenance department. The person would be fulltime with benefits, he said.
