The Henry County Beer Board requested during a called meeting Thursday that Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew notify it quarterly of infractions that may require review of a license.

Board member Dell Carter said a local business had an underage drinking charge this year that was a second offense. The charge was never brought to the board’s attention.

Belew agreed to notify appropriate beer boards and commissions of these charges in quarterly reports.

In other business:

• County Attorney Rob Whitfield recommended the board accept a series of changes he made to the license application forms.

He said the forms were slightly out of date on what information should be required and what laws were in place.

The board members present unanimously approved the changes. Board members Drew Williams and Greg Carter were absent.

• The board discussed expanding background checks to include state and federal investigations.

Currently, a Henry County background check is the only one required for licenses. This change would include Tennessee Bureau of Investigation checks and Federal Bureau of Investigation checks.

Board Chairman Don Jones said he felt the extra checks would cost too much money to complete.

The discussion was tabled.
