A Paris man was arrested for aggravated animal cruelty after Paris Police officers found a beagle puppy inside a plastic bag that had been thrown into a downtown dumpster.
A press release from PPD Capt. Ricky Watson indicated the department took a complaint July 3 after someone found the dog in their dumpster. The person reporting the dog said it was not the first time they had found a dog in a plastic bag in their dumpster, but it was the first time they had found one alive.
The animal was taken to a local veterinary clinic where the dog was treated but then died.
An investigation revealed Stan Wilson had put the dog into the dumpster. Wilson raises beagle puppies and all of his other animals were in good shape and healthy.
Wilson was arrested Friday after turning himself in at the Henry County jail. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Henry County General Sessions Court. His bond was set at $5,000.
