A Murray woman drowned Saturday afternoon after being involved in an ATV accident that occurred near the water at Kentucky Lake in Henry County.

Beverly Evans, 45, was found in the water on the shoreline near Lakehill Beach Estates Road and River Oaks Drive on Kentucky Lake.

A press release from Henry County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Gary Vandiver indicates the cause of death is believed to be drowning.

A 911 call was made regarding the incident at 3:51 p.m.

According to an investigation by Matt McClure, county coroner, Evans was riding along the shoreline in a Polaris Ranger ATV with a group of friends, who were on three separate ATVs. The vehicle she was in flipped upside down and submerged into the water. Evans’ friends pulled her from the water and began to do CPR, but she could not be revived.

Her pet dog was also found dead at the scene.

Vandiver referred to the incident as a tragic accident Monday morning.

The Sheriff’s Department, Henry County Medical Center EMS, Henry County Rescue Squad and Paris Landing Fire Department all responded to the scene.
