Sex offender arrested
A registered sex offender was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a Tyson Avenue motel for having a 1-year old girl with him in the room.
According to his report, Paris Police Sgt. Jordan Klutts had heard a complaint that James Yon, 56, 305 Cedar St., was having a child stay with him at the motel. Klutts informed Jason Gamblin of the state probation office and Shelby Hill of the Department of Children’s Services and they found Yon and the child in the motel room. There was no indication that Yon did anything to the girl. He was charged with violations of conditions of community supervision for being in the room with her.
The child was given to her grandmother after Yon was arrested at 2:46 p.m.
Yon is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Henry County General Sessions Court. His bond was set at $5,000.
