Law enforcement officers found methamphetamine inside a vehicle Tuesday night at an East Wood Street convenience store, leading to the arrests of a Paris man and woman.
Michael Keith Chapman, 32, of 4720 Guthrie Road, and Ashley B. Hutcheson, 26, of 204 Jean St. were arrested on drug charges at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday by Paris Police Patrolman Daniel Andres.
According to a PPD incident report, Chapman was approached by Andres for driving a Kia SUV with a revoked license after the SUV had been parked at the store, with Hutcheson seated on the passenger side.
Henry County Sheriff’s Department Cpl. Dalton Watson was contacted to bring his K-9 Jagr to the site. The dog indicated there were narcotics in the vehicle.
Four grams of meth were found under the hood of the SUV.
Chapman and Hutcheson were charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver.
Hutcheson was given an additional charge for contraband in a penal institute after 3.5 grams of meth were found inside her body while at the Henry County jail.
Both are scheduled to appear Sept. 29 in Henry County General Sessions Court. Chapman’s bond is $25,000 and Hutcheson’s is $10,000.
