Vehicle veers into gully off East Wood Street

Paris Police Capt. John Brewer climbs on top of a wrecked vehicle just before 11 a.m. Tuesday as other emergency workers stand by to help. Two people were in the vehicle and were trapped inside before being removed from it by workers on the scene. Both left the scene by ambulance, and at least one of those was airlifted to another city, according to PPD Capt. Ricky Watson. A full report had not been released at presstime Tuesday. The vehicle apparently was eastbound on East Wood Street and veered off the road and into some woods just west of Highland Street and across the street from the Washington Courts basketball courts.
