Highway 641 closed by burst water main

Road construction worker John Parrish of Paris diverts traffic Tuesday morning from Highway 641 onto Guthrie Road, North Poplar Street, Rison Street and back to North Market Street because a water main burst near Sproul Heights Road, washing away the shoulder of the new pavement and partially undermining its edge. He said he was told workers would have to properly repack the area under the road and replace the shoulder before 641 could be reopened, and he didn’t know how long that would take. Access to the site was denied by Parrish’s boss.
