PARIS TN: Backpacks fly at Back to School Bash

From left, Brent Smith and Capt. Steven Dean of the Henry County Sheriff’s Department help Robin Pierce, Inman Middle School eighth-grade teacher, as she collects backpacks for a waiting family at the 2020 Back to School Bash Saturday at the Henry County Fairgrounds. More than 1,000 backpacks were distributed to local school-age children according to the Sheriff’s Department, along with school supplies, masks, hygiene supplies, water bottles and treat bags. The four-hour drive-through event was co-sponsored by The Shed, Trinity United Methodist Church and the Family Resource Center. “It takes a whole community — the whole city and county —to do this, so we’re grateful for everybody that volunteered their time,” said Becky Holland, FRC director. Those who missed their chance to collect their backpack can make an appointment at the FRC by calling 642-2938.
