Plows and cows

Above, a City of Paris Public Works Department snow plow scrapes up snow Tuesday morning on South Brewer Street. Numerous workers were out clearing up roads in Paris, where at least seven traffic accidents occurred as of Tuesday afternoon, with more vehicles sliding into ditches and getting stuck. Below right, a couple of our bovine friends cope with the frigid temperatures, which were still in the mid-teens in the afternoon after dipping to 3 degrees for the low Tuesday morning. These cows were trekking through snowy fields on the Highway 218 bypass, near Highway 69A east of Paris, surely enjoying not having to shovel driveways and drive to work on slick roads. The Paris Utility Authority lent some help clearing off roads, after fixing several water main breaks and scattered non-weather-related power outages. For more snow photos, see Page 8 of today’s P-I.
