Mule Barn to host cookoff

Ezra Scarbrough, grandson of The Mule Barn owner Ken Scarbrough, fetches an Asian carp filet Thursday afternoon that will be cooked during Saturday’s Mule Barn Steak Cookoff. Cooks will begin meeting at 10 a.m. for the competition that will see the first-place winner for best steak win $750 and first place for best carp winning $250. There will also be free samples of Asian carp given during the event and experts will also share different ways to cook and prepare the fish, according to the Scarbroughs. The cookoff will be held at The Mule Barn, located at 600 Scarbrough Lane in Buchanan.
