641 widening project nearing completion

Paving crews from Delta Contracting Co. in Paris are working on the final layer of asphalt on the 641 widening project from Rison Street in Paris north to Smith Road. By late Thursday morning, they’d paved the outside northbound lane and had paved the outside southbound lane as far as Porter Court. Traffic was being routed down the middle of the roadway. Matt Hayes of J.R. Hayes Construction Co. in Paris said Delta should be finished paying by midweek, then work shifts to odds and ends like bridge deck grooving and painting, thermoplastic striping and permanent signs. He said Hayes’ contract completion date is July 1, but he’s hoping they can be finished by mid-June.
