Retired Paris Police Department Sgt. Tony Hutcherson (right) receives the Drum Major for Justice award for 2023 from the Rev. Andre Richardson (left) and the Rev. John Dandridge Monday night during a Martin Luther King Jr. Day community forum at Mount Zion Baptist Church on Irvine Street. Hutcherson retired from the PPD on Dec. 31 after a 35-year career with the police department. He put on his uniform one last time for the Monday ceremony. Speakers during the event spoke of Hutcherson’s great communication abilities, family relationships and community involvement in serving as a mentor for young people.
