Billy Wayne Wilson, 78, of Paris died Friday, March 27, 2020, at his home.
His private graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Bowers Chapel Cemetery in Gibson County. Retired Army officer Eddie Bray will officiate.
Wilson was born on Aug. 22, 1941, in Dyersburg. He was the son of the late Gid Kirklin Wilson and the late Edith Surratt Wilson.
He was married in 1982 to Louise Wilson, who preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 2017.
He is survived by a daughter, Catherin (Avery) Cobb of Ripley; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Destiny Cobb; four sisters, Peggy Parker of Muscle Shoals, Al, Cinda Childress of Paris, Brenda (Shilo) Neace of Milan and Deborah (Terry) Bennett of Milan; a brother, Roger Wilson of Cullman, Al.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Nelda Graves, Nancy Kramer and Corinda Wilson; and three brothers, Harold Wilson, Frank Wilson and Hardy “Rock” Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He was a Baptist by faith. Billy enjoyed sports, especially baseball where he was a true Cubs and Cardinals fan.
