Laurel Eugenia Beard Castleberry, 75, of Paris died Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at her home.
A memorial service and celebration of life is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. June 22 at East Wood Church of Christ.
Castleberry was born Nov. 12, 1943, in Erin. She was the daughter of the late Travis Elbert and Eunice O’Neil Parchman Beard.
She was married for 52 years to Dillard Mack Castleberry of Paris, who survives.
Along with her husband, she is also survived by two daughters, Roxanne (Jim) Sanders of Franklin and Paula Castleberry (Chris) Harper of Paris; four grandchildren: Sarah Harper and Elizabeth, Boyce and Preston Sanders; two sisters, Margaret Rye and Golda Smith, both of Nashville; and a brother, Terry Beard of Erin.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Beard Kuykendall; and five brothers: Donald O’Neil, William Elbert, Paul Bruce, Travis Oliver and Michael Russell Beard.
Castleberry grew up in the Grices Creek community near Erin. She graduated from Erin High School and worked at Southern Gage Corp.
A family member said she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother as well as a beloved caregiver to countless children through her involvement and work at East Wood Church of Christ and Miss Betty’s KinderGarden. She’ll be remembered for her laughter, wit and fun-loving approach to life and was happiest at home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She loved quilting and enjoyed crafting uniquely personalized quilts for special friends and loved ones.
