U.S. Army and Navy veteran James Clement LaJoye, 91, of Paris died Saturday, July 6, 2019, at AHC Paris, formerly Paris Healthcare Center.
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at McEvoy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joy Wethersbee of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be at a later date at Birds Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
LaJoye was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Baraga, Mich. He was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Flora Wadaga LaJoye.
He was married Aug. 8, 1964, to Marjorie Jane Morris LaJoye, who preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 1998.
He is survived by two grandchildren, Melissa Johnson of Paris and Jane Ann (Steve) Sampson of Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Brooke Sampson and Dylan Johnson; a niece, Debe Malega of Michigan; and a nephew, Bill (Susan) Neese of Paris.
In addition to his parents and wife, LaJoye was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Morris and Stephen Lane Schrader; a sister; and two brothers.
LaJoye served during both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Paris Moose Lodge and the VFW.
