Billy Joe Smith, 85, of Paris died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, at Henry County Healthcare Center. His body is to be cremated and a private family celebration will be planned for a later date. Smith was born July 3, 1936, in Paris. He was the son of the late Joe Henry Smith and Grace Thompson Smith. He married Nancy Webb Smith on Aug. 13, 1960, and she survives, in Paris. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a daughter, Shannon (Ronnie) French of Springville; a son, Michael Joe Smith of Paris; three grandchildren: Evan Smith, Leslie Smith and Dillon French; his former daughter-in-law, Kim E. Smith of Thompson Station; a sister, Ira Faye Collins of Texas; and a brother, Guy (Sandra) Smith of Paris. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary French; and a brother, Henry Miller Smith. Billy Joe was a Christian by faith. He was a family man who loved his family and most especially his grandchildren. He worked and retired from Holley Carburetor, formerly of Paris. Billy Joe was a longtime active member of the Masons and the Shriners.
