Geneva Hughes Matheny, 83, of Puryear died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at Henry County Healthcare Center.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home, with Teddy Hill officiating.
Family members will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Garden.
Visitation is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. Saturday, and after noon on Sunday at the funeral home.
Matheny was born on May 19, 1936, in Henry County. She was the daughter of the late Ollie and Ena Gibbons Hughes.
She was married on April 23, 1955, to Earl Matheny of Puryear, who survives.
She also is survived by three sons: Steven Matheny of Puryear, Timothy (Gala) Matheny of Paris and John (Angie) Matheny of Murray; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jo Ann Harp of Tupelo, Miss.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Hughes.
She was a member of Jesus Saves Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
